Every approval is the product of tireless teamwork, and there is no greater feeling than winning a client's disability case. Below are but a few examples of client triumphs.
A young veteran struggling with multiple medical conditions — including severe foraminal stenosis, arthritis, and depression — retained our firm in 2021. Our office represented him from the beginning stages of the initial application, all the way to his hearing in June 2022.
Our client felt he was ready to go back to work shortly before his hearing, so we amended his claim to be a “closed period” claim. This made it possible for him to go back to work while simultaneously receiving SSDI benefits for the time he was unable to work due to disability. We were thrilled to assist our client in winning his benefits, and honored to represent a veteran!
Jonnie, a 61 year old woman with severe heart conditions, contacted our office in April 2022 after she exhausted all of her work's vacation and sick time. She was preparing to apply for FMLA and looking for more permanent help. For years she has struggled with multiple heart conditions, including atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, and ventricular tachycardia
In addition to her heart conditions, Jonnie was experiencing undiagnosed neurological issues that were affecting her memory and concentration. Our attorney encouraged her to schedule an appointment with a neurologist in order to document these conditions as evidence for SSA. Our office filed her initial application in April and she received a fully favorable just 4 months later!
Lana is a 38-year-old woman who suffers from erythropoietic protoporphyria, a rare metabolic illness that causes light sensitivity. As a result of her condition, Lana has been unable to work any type of job on a regular, full-time basis. We believed Lana's uncommon disease had a compelling case for disability, despite the fact that claimants under the age of 50 typically have a lower chance of success.
Lana was very consistent with her medical treatments, and she had a number of specialists eager to back up her disability claim. We also booked an appointment for Lana to meet with a Vocational Expert for an assessment, which considerably boosted her chances of winning. Lana was represented by Mr. Herman at her hearing in May, and we received her Fully Favorable decision just a few weeks later!
Our firm represented a 57-year-old man with acute spinal stenosis that causes debilitating back pain and leg numbness. After working in the same industry for 37 years, our client had to leave his job due to the back pain caused by sitting for 11 hours a day. We represented his claim from the initial level to his hearing more than a year later. He was seeing several specialists to treat his conditions, which made his medical records valuable pieces of evidence that showed clear and objective proof of his disability. This persuasive medical evidence contributed to his eventual Fully Favorable decision!
After speaking with several other law firms, Richard retained our firm in August 2021 due to our positive online reviews. Richard has a multitude of physical disabilities that prevent him from continuing his previous work as a machinist, though the most severe of them is his liver cirrhosis. We prioritized his initial application because he had already been out of work for a year and we wanted to maximize the amount of backpay he would receive.
After filing his initial application, we stayed in close contact with his disability examiner to ensure the claim was moving smoothly. Approximately a year after initially filing, we received his favorable decision and Notice of Award which showed he won over 50k in backpay!
Our client retained us in December 2021 after attending a hearing where the judge advised her to postpone in order to get representation. To prepare for her next hearing, we quickly sent out medical record requests and attempted to obtain supportive statements from her providers, specifically her neurologist. Her hearing was held in August and went smoothly with very little argument from the judge and Vocational Expert on whether or not her disabilities were severe enough. We received her fully favorable decision in October and were thrilled to congratulate her on winning her claim!
Our firm represented a 52-year-old man with severe pain in his right arm caused by a torn ligament in his elbow. He was an engineer for several years before having to leave due to the pain and immobility in his right hand.
When he hired us in November, he already had a hearing scheduled for January, giving us only 2 months to prepare for his case. Our firm had to work quickly to file representation paperwork, request medical records, compile evidence and submit it in less than 2 months before his hearing. This case was challenging due to the time constraint, but we were able to get everything done in time and represent our client at his hearing in January. We received a Fully Favorable decision just a few weeks later!
In April 2022, a 65-year-old woman with back pain retained our firm. She was a successful chiropractor for many years, but after a bad fall in 2021, which exacerbated a previous back injury, she was no longer able to meet the physical demands of her job.
Our client was at the initial level, meaning she had never filed a disability claim before. Our senior paralegal, Julio Romero, filed her initial application at the beginning of May, and we received her Notice of Award letter only 3 weeks later! This was one of the quickest approvals our firm has ever seen. We are so happy to have helped our client start receiving her benefits as soon as possible!
A 35-year-old mother of five retained our firm in January 2022 after learning her Stage III cervical cancer had advanced to stage IV. She had filed her initial application on her own in June 2021 but, when she still hadn’t received a decision by January, she decided it was time to hire a lawyer to accelerate the process.
After evaluating her information, we determined that she would be eligible for a "Compassionate Allowance," which is a request to expedite an application due to a critical medical necessity. We immediately filed for the compassionate allowance and her claim was approved just 2 months later! Our whole team was happy to learn that her claim had been approved; now she and her children are receiving the benefits they deserve!
