Every approval is the product of tireless teamwork, and there is no greater feeling than winning a client's disability case. Below are but a few examples of client triumphs.
Larry was referred to our firm by a prior client and friend after his original application was declined. Since Larry had few medical records to utilize as evidence, his case was challenging. In the end, the defense rested on examining Larry's earlier millwright work. The judge wanted to know if Larry had any transferrable skills and our Attorney skillfully argued that, although Larry did have some sales experience, it was not significant enough to allow for transferrable skills and he could not return to his job as a millwright due to the physical demands of the position. The judge agreed and issued a Fully Favorable decision a few weeks later!
This was one of the quickest approvals we've seen at our firm. Our client had breast cancer that had metastasized to several of her bones, making it impossible for her to continue working. She had only been out of work for a few weeks when our firm took her case. However, we knew her condition was critical and she needed immediate help. We filed her initial claim in April 2023 and she was awarded benefits just 2 months later in June.
We are grateful that SSA recognized the seriousness of our client's situation and awarded her benefits so fast. Now she can take care of her health without worrying about how she is going to pay her bills.
Shawn retained our firm after his initial claim was denied. Despite the fact that Shawn is a veteran with several medical issues that prevent him from working, his young age made his claim extremely tough. We knew that a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge would give us the best chance of winning.
Attorney Jeffrey Herman argued that Shawn was unable to perform his previous work or adjust to sedentary work due to a combination of his medical conditions that limited Shawn's ability to sit for extended periods of time or frequently use a keyboard, both of which are common requirements for sedentary work. The judge agreed and awarded Shawn a Fully Favorable decision a few months later! We were thrilled to assist our client in winning his benefits and honored to represent a veteran!
Jonnie, a 61 year old woman with severe heart conditions, contacted our office in April 2022 after she exhausted all of her work's vacation and sick time. She was preparing to apply for FMLA and looking for more permanent help. For years she has struggled with multiple heart conditions, including atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, and ventricular tachycardia
In addition to her heart conditions, Jonnie was experiencing undiagnosed neurological issues that were affecting her memory and concentration. Our attorney encouraged her to schedule an appointment with a neurologist in order to document these conditions as evidence for SSA. Our office filed her initial application in April and she received a fully favorable just 4 months later!
Lana is a 38-year-old woman who suffers from erythropoietic protoporphyria, a rare metabolic illness that causes light sensitivity. As a result of her condition, Lana has been unable to work any type of job on a regular, full-time basis. We believed Lana's uncommon disease had a compelling case for disability, despite the fact that claimants under the age of 50 typically have a lower chance of success.
Lana was very consistent with her medical treatments, and she had a number of specialists eager to back up her disability claim. We also booked an appointment for Lana to meet with a Vocational Expert for an assessment, which considerably boosted her chances of winning. Lana was represented by Mr. Herman at her hearing in May, and we received her Fully Favorable decision just a few weeks later!
Our firm represented a 57-year-old man with acute spinal stenosis that causes debilitating back pain and leg numbness. After working in the same industry for 37 years, our client had to leave his job due to the back pain caused by sitting for 11 hours a day. We represented his claim from the initial level to his hearing more than a year later. He was seeing several specialists to treat his conditions, which made his medical records valuable pieces of evidence that showed clear and objective proof of his disability. This persuasive medical evidence contributed to his eventual Fully Favorable decision!
Our firm represented a 52-year-old man with severe pain in his right arm caused by a torn ligament in his elbow. He was an engineer for several years before having to leave due to the pain and immobility in his right hand.
When he hired us in November, he already had a hearing scheduled for January, giving us only 2 months to prepare for his case. Our firm had to work quickly to file representation paperwork, request medical records, compile evidence and submit it in less than 2 months before his hearing. This case was challenging due to the time constraint, but we were able to get everything done in time and represent our client at his hearing in January. We received a Fully Favorable decision just a few weeks later!
In April 2022, a 65-year-old woman with back pain retained our firm. She was a successful chiropractor for many years, but after a bad fall in 2021, which exacerbated a previous back injury, she was no longer able to meet the physical demands of her job. We filed her initial application at the beginning of May, and we received her Notice of Award letter only 3 weeks later! This was one of the quickest approvals our firm has ever seen. We are so happy to have helped our client start receiving her benefits as soon as possible!
