Date of Last Insurance
Your “Date of Last Insurance”, or “DLI”, is an important date that can affect your ability to collect Social Security Disability Insurance.
If you have been asked to find out your Date of Last Insurance, please call 1-800 772-1213 and speak to a representative for SSA.
Once you have your DLI, please give us a call at 480 420-7887, or email your DLI to info@desertdisability.com.
Why is this Important?
To be eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (“SSDI”) benefits, a person with lawful status in the United States must have worked and paid taxes for at least 5 out of the past 10 years.
- For every quarter of the year that we work and pay taxes, we earn 1 credit (or 4 credits per year)
- To have a current DLI, we must have 20 work credits on our SS statement
- Work credits fall off after 10 years
To be approved for SSDI, you must prove to SSA that your severe impairment was diagnosed before your DLI.
