Maximize your retroactive benefits by picking the right AOD.

Alleged Onset Date

Your AOD is the date you became unable to engage in "Substantial Gainful Activity" due to a severe disability.

Your AOD should be the earliest date when the following are true:

  • You stopped engaging in SGA (Substantial Gainful Activity)
  • You have a diagnosed medical condition that prevents you from working a full-time job
  • For SSDI claims, your AOD must be earlier than your DLI (Date of Last Insurance)

If your claim is approved, your DOE (Date of Entitlement) for benefits is 5 months from your AOD.
